Hi all,

I tried to use this new player to try to play the music that was embed the other time. Apparently it takes very long to load, or the player is not working.

Hopefully someone knows how to sort it out :)

Anyway, the rest of the formatting is too complicated! Haha can the creator(s) simplify it a little or help to touch up a little?

Our first post class sports session

We organised our first sports session today. At a short notice, 4 people turned up for the event, just nice to enjoy and sweat out two hours of badminton.

One thing we did learn in common is to enjoy whats remaining of our youth while we are still able to. Comparing ourselves with a trainee (a primary school kid) in the neighbouring court, we cannot help but miss the good things that youth has. That of agility, quick recovery and... less pressure and worries! Haha!
For sure, we were aching in more than one area after the 2-hour session.

As I will be going off for the next month, hope some one can carry on this trend. Maybe plan one about 2 weeks in advance so that problems such as the lack of places to go, people unable to commit themselves etc, can be minimised.

5th Anniversary!

2005-Present.

It has been five years since most of us got to know each other. And it is pleasing to note that most of us are still in constant contact and interaction.

We will be celebrating five years of friendship in two days time. As we all remember, the 18th of May was designated as the "birthday" of our class. As far as I remember, we have acknowledged this occasion each time by arranging a meet up; this year being no exception.

After a flurry of planning and trying to accommodate as many people as possible, we finally settled on today as the date to meet. While it did not seem to look good attendance wise, I am sure everyone would have tried to attend the event at some point in time, one way or another. Fish and co. seems to be the preference, this time, at the Glass House. (Did we have fish and co. for like the past 2-3 class bdays?)

As all the guys have already entered university, this year saw a change in the major topic from army life, to that of university experience. Refreshing and beneficial I must say. A common topic for everyone to share their experience on. Dinner, no doubt slightly later than usual, served its intended purpose well. A time to sit down and catch up with each other in a relaxed environment. A break from the usual hectic schedule that we all come to face in recent times.

After dinner, we wanted to find something that we could all do together. In the end, we settled at TCC with 4 cups of drinks and 11 cups of water. Topics varied, but the most interesting thing was the "revival" of the idea of having a weekly/monthly sports session. According to Jameson, the plan had been put on hold for two years! Not wanting to follow the route of the Copenhagen Summit or the Nuclear Disarmament talks, we decided on playing badminton either this week or next week. Soon though, it was time to go home, and we parted, having blown out five imaginary candles.

Of course, this, like any other outing, serves as a way for us to interact with each other. Soon, most of the ladies will be in the job market, while the guys will have to wait a couple more years to follow suit. With that, we may see that there will be fewer chances to meet up again.

I would think that some may have a different view on this matter compared to me. And I respect their view point as well. I prefer to see this as testament that friendships are important, and can go a long way to helping one another in the future. As we mature to our later years, we might look back at this with fond memories. So no matter in smaller groups or as a whole, do keep in touch with each other!

Hopefully, I will be able to get courts this week (or next), then we can get the ball rolling!

Btw, face book seems to be the new trend these days, so I think most of the photos are on display already :)

Turning/turned 21

Hi all,

So it has been rather quiet in this quarters for the past few months. Perhaps this blog may no longer be the preferred mode of communication for most of us. For the regular contributors, we may have many other commitments to attend to, so we find less time to login. And maybe for others, it is just about forgetting the username and pw, or even the blog address for that matter! Haha not to worry, there are still some of us that remember these info clearly, so feel free to sms us if you want to contribute.

Well, most of the class has joined the 21-club this year. I must say we still have a very strong class bond. All the class members are always on the invite-list for the 21 bday parties. At least half the class still hangs out together if there is an occasion. And more often than not, we do try to turn up for the event/bday celebration if we are available.
I must apologise to a few classmates here though, for I did not turn up for their bday parties even though I had promised to earlier. In one of the instances, I had already got the present on the day itself, only for the flu bug to take over. So to the trio, really sorry!!!

I just came back from Kenneth's bday today. I hope that he really enjoyed himself, and that the presents come in handy to him. He doesn't turn 21 till monday though, so happy bday once again! And for the next in line, Debbie! On tuesday, so happy bday to you in advance too. I will remember to send a message this time.

After the both of them, come the Sept babies in Zi Kai, Ee Kent and Zhi Yan. And then myself followed by Huimin nearing the examinations.

I think we should all thank Mel, Debbie, Shui Yong, Jameson, Kenneth, Andie and Jun Rong. They have been present at almost, if not all of the bday parties, with Mel even suggesting to help celebrate some of ours. I think all of us really appreciate it.

As for some updates... Jonathan is already in Australia studying, while Ee Kent flew off to USA a couple of weeks ago. We wish them the best of luck, and will definitely welcome them back in the airport when they return. Also, not to forget the gals on exchange programmes earlier in the year. I am sure they enjoyed themselves thoroughly and came back all the more wiser. Do share with us your experience!

Ok that is all for today... I will try to update the blog periodically about how our classmates are fairing. In this way, even if you cannot make it for an activity, at least you still know what happened meanwhile. Hopefully this helps.

Eh, so as we edge closer to the Jan babies bday.... any ideas yet? Lol...

Doubt so cause both of their birthdays fall close to or on CNY itself. Not to mention straight after huiling's one is Hoe Seng's bday too. So maybe during the belated CNY function, can celebrate all together loh. Alternatively, just a suggestion, can hold at my place, but no guarantees because the bookings are coming thick and fast, so got to confirm the date fast if really want.

I think maybe can change the blog song to "Forever Young" by Alphaville since we always want to be young! But it's a kinda old song so I think you all may not like.

sigh. it's true. we're all gonna turn 21 this year. quite scary man. still rmb last year i was like complaining about turning 21 the FOLLOWING year. now guess what. the next year has come. and we're all twenty one. new year resolutions anyone?

anyway this year shld be quite a crazy year for all of us. all the 21st birthday parties and stuff. and PRESENTS. aaargh. gotta buy presents! yikes. and i'm still currently unemployed. cough cough mr chua jun rong. pleaase help your poor friend here. i'm a little tight. ok maybe i ask for too much pay also la haha. mmm i was just thinking. working at starbucks could be quite a fun thing. at least i learn about coffee. hmmmmmmmmmm.

aye i just cam back from korea like last week. it was daaaamn fun ok. the weather's cold and nice(it was freezing actually. froze my ass off), the people were nice and helpful, great scenery, great places to visit, lotsa stuff to do. my trip was a tour package for 8 days, and then i extended for 2 days free and easy. i had a really cool tour guide! loved her like crazy man. and the free and easy was quite exciting. my friends and i had very limited korean vocab. basically we knew how to greet people, say thank you and compliment girls for being pretty(which we did put into good usee). hur hur hur. nah kidding. we managed to stumble along though... and it was really fun! =) it snowed on one night! cool man. though it didn't turn out to be quite as romantic, cuz the wind and the snow made you feel duper cold. after a while you'd just be shivering and looking for shelter.

k anyway chinese new year is coming! shld be planning a meet up in 2 weeks time. wait for more details. shld be on either 21st or 22nd jan.

A Merry and Memorable Christmas

4 years, the fire is still burning. Amidst our busy schedule, most of us have turned up for the Christmas party that was so beautifully planned by Jiayi and Sue Lynn. The brightly lighted house and cheery faces contrasted that of the dark skies and roads when I found my way to Jiayi's house. Already late, I hastily made my way to the dining area. Awkwardness was soon subsumed by familiarity, as we began our meal. The old class 1805 was back chatting again.

The usual people were the ones initiating the conversation, while people like me (or maybe I am the only one) would usually listen. There was a wide variety of food, not to mention the sumptous nature that came along with it. Much effort was put into making this event a success, and credit must be given to Sue Lynn and Jiayi for their sincere efforts. From the goodie packs, to the set-up of the dining area, to the music, and of course, not forgetting their homemade food. The "apple pie" was the highlight in my opinion.

After dinner, was the usual banter and followed by the gift exchange. The highly anticipated arrival of Andie had finally materialised. And he never fails to come up with some thing "special" on these days to spice up everyone. Quite innovative of him for a last minute present... but... oh well, we all know abt it :P

It didn matter that I had to rush home so that I can wake up in time for today's programme. What was truly memorable was last night's experience. Kudos to everyone! As I end my usual, boring rant, this time I found a phrase which I feel describes our spirit:

Ad multos annos !!!

in the blink of an eye, my army life is gonna end. getting my pink ic soon. somehow i find myself getting a bit emo typing tis post. tis is the end point that i hav waited so long for. some days in army was juz surviving out the day, dragging myself thru barely.

i am so glad it finally gonna be over. i have no idea y ppl sign on till tis day. anyway, i passed my driving test already, license still haven come yet. going kl on 11 to 13 nov, looking forward to that. tidied up a bit of my messy room, still gt lots to go.

looking for job. non office type perfered. pay must be at least $7/hr. looking for a fun/challenging job rather than sit in office do admin work or data entry. please sms me if gt lobang! thanks! (any jobs that has to deal with kids i also sure sign up.)

it's been a while since i last read a fiction book. so i decided to pick up 'a thousand splendid suns', a book that i'd i bought some time ago but didn't bother to read. ooooh my gosh. i was blown away man. super page turner. highly recommended. you gotta have a heart of stone to not feel a thing. the pain the pain the pain.

i am 2 months 10 days away from my ORD people! i can smeeeeeell it coming man. the smell of freedom. well i've been feeling really restleess recently. like you know you're getting to the end of the road. but the anticipation and desire to get there just stretches your time. disgusting.

alright i dunno if i'll be going for badminton. but if i do, i'll be looking forward to meet up with you guys again. haha been ages since i've seen some of you. good chance to catch up. so do try and come! i will i will.

Sorry to all once again, because our little "sports scheme" has once again failed to materialise, this time due to the unavailability of courts. I didn know badminton is so "well liked" among the common folk nowadays. We called up the C.Cs as well as sports halls, but the courts were either fully booked, or they are only available at some "unearthy" hours like 7am-8am in the morning or 9pm to 10pm at night, and not forgetting this is one week in advance. So having consulted a few ppl, we have decided on a new course of action.

At exactly 0001hrs, 12th Oct 08, Zi Kai will login into the portal to book the courts available. This is to ensure that we get the slots that we want. Silly ruling of not being able to book more than 2 weeks in advance, so really bo bian. Then, he may have to pia down to the C.C for confirmation, so its by no means easy.
Meanwhile, I would need to confirm how many of you will be turning up for the said event by 2359hrs, 10 Oct 08, so that we can make any alterations if need be.

In case you didn receive my sms, details are as follows:

Sport: Badminton
Date: 26 Oct 08
Venue: YCK C.C (tentative)
Time: 1000hrs - 1200hrs
Meeting time and place: YCK MRT, 0930hrs.

Just a little update if you are still not aware of it...

We have decided to have a sports (be it badminton, bball etc) session every weekend for interested ppl. Recently, ZK and I have tried to book the court at Hougang but it is fully booked. Seems like we need about 2 weeks advanced notice to actually get a booking.

As such, hope that most of you will be able to make it on the 11/12th of Oct. I have already received a few replies and thanks for the effort :) The rest, hurry up so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

Tentative details are as follows:

Time: 10am to 12 noon

driving lessons starts this fri. been abt 5 months since i last drive, hope i still got the skill.

Well, glad that SG won an olympic medal, and also glad that my favourite club has also won the first game. All these, very valuable to a tired guy like me lol.

quick update! i am about 90 work days from ORD! ooooh my gosssh! haha i've been snooping around the net for potential jobs i can apply for after i ORD. can't wait man. wanna get a real job and a real life. i'm suffocating here! and and and. there's university to look forward to. EXCITING.

ok la but honestly. after spending 2 years in an office kinda environment... dealing with psychological stuff. i have learnt quite bit regarding this field. haha *gaaasp - people actually do learn things.* yea ok. i have come to realise how interesting the subject is. like a large part of it is also self realisation. knowing yourself... understanding why you do certain things in a certain manner. personality. quite an amazing thing really. and of course amongst other things... made a couple of really good friends. so i shall say i have no regrets being where i am now. though i really grumble a lot about wasting my time here.

i guess sometimes you won't really know what life has in store for you la. like i always felt certain people are placed in your life for certain reasons and to have certain impacts/influences. think i have a few people who have really altered the course of my life. if i hadn't known them..... haha honestly i wouldn't be sure of where i would be right now. EH but the most important thing is. haha actually i hope i have an impact on people's lives also man. sometimes i wonder how many people's lives have actually changed cuz they know me. yikes i certainly hope there are some out there.

sigh. i've been rather involved with a couple of NUS events recently. one was my sis's uni grad at NUS. the other's WAFF(warm and fuzzy feeling), some charity thingy. and i suddenly realise how so many people i know are in NUS. its like all the people i'm currently keeping in contact with are all either in NUS, or going to NUS. that is HORRIBLE. i'm quite afraid that i can't settle in at SMU. i hardly know anyone there man. it is freaking scary. it's like if i go to NUS i know i've got a pool of people whom can rely on. connections and stuff la. but SMU?? omg. i seriously seriously dunno anyone. i really wanna get started with uni but its starting to look daunting haha. well shucks i guess i'll just have to go there and be super thick skinned. daaamnit.

starting my first driving lesson tomorrow. ok those of you who already own a licence, or have already started on lessons. i know i'm slow la. but better late than never. i'm looking to have a great 'jerking' experience tomorrow. an experience which according to my sis, is quite easy to come by.

Wah it has been a busy few weeks for me too! So many activites and travelling around like mad lol. For instance, I had to rush down to camp this morning by 0630hrs to pick up our "boats" (aka made up out of recycled material), then sit in a lorry to rush down to East Coast Park. Saturday also burned by some club activity which was quite a waste of time to be honest. I enjoyed the later part, where I met up with my seniors to have a chat. One of them will be going over to Toronto to study in Aug, so got to wish him farewell!

hmm argh been really caught up with my own stuff recently. haven't blogged here for a while. but anyway yes yes. just a quick update. my band will be playing at youthpark *scape on july 13th at about 2 plus in the afternoon. please drop by to support if you're just around the area! greatly appreciate it. =)

wonder how everyone's doing. it's the holidays for uni people right? all the free people. damn. i can't wait to be in uni.

managed to meet up with a friend who's studying in the US right now (Carnegie Mellon, my goodness!) just a couple of days ago. gosh how people change. i guess it's the culture really. and the exposure you get overseas. sometimes i wonder if it's a good or bad thing though. from what i learnt.... haha gosh. it all sounds really crazy but like... its such an exciting life. it's actually a life man. haha in singapore it's just... i dunno? walk around shopping, eat, catch movies and stuff. well... i guess i'm stll a singapore kinda person. but i'd looove to go there for a few months just for fun. europe, america... anywhere's fine. can't wait man. exchange prog! rooooar. definitely wld love the experience.

been a while since i last posted and many things have happened since then. like i managed to finally pass my final theory. lol.

anyway i realise something important during one of my piano practice session. you cant run if you never learn how to walk first. after frustrating attempts to play cannon in c, i finally realise that i didnt have the foundation yet to play that. currently cannon in c is left aside at the time being. this experience has opened my eyes to the fact that we always thought we know but we dont practise it. instant success? not without hard work first. a 30 sec piece of music takes about 10 hours to perfect it.

anther thing that came to realise that some people are just born with natural charm and they somehow draw you in. like this person that i am listening to currently, i feel is the only person so far that charms you without smiling. it all began with a stumble on the concert thank you my teens. the rest is history.

Thanks to all who came. Super tired when i reach home but managed to push on dota with hoe seng ragen and andie hong. super fun game and now we need just 1 more person to join us and we can form our team18 clan. Andie hong i am no longer the dota noob like in the past ok. Maybe i can even pawn you now haha.

A chapter ends, while a new one begins.

And so my 1 week off ends today. As kenneth as said, the organisation is moving me to a new place with a new job scope. Good news or bad news only time will tell. Imagine playing a game when you reach the last level already and your saved game get wiped out and you have to start over the game again. That pretty much sums up how i feel about posting out to chong pang camp. Less than 6 more months to ord and they want to make me leave my comfort zone.

Well i must comment that the next class outing on sat look pretty much well organised and the attendance on paper is higher than i expected. Looking forward to it and hopefully it's the first of many large scale outings to come.

Finally i have been reading this book tittled Grand Obsession by Perri Knize. It is an interesting read so far. The story is about the author obsession about finding the perfect piano. To sum it up, it is a story about finding and pursuing passion at any age. Which sets me thinking, what are my passions in life? What i am pursuing after?

The answer is different for different individuals. What's your answer?

For me, i promise myself to learn ******** (i shall not revealed) after my learning of the piano comes to an end.

Today's the 18th of May, which means it's 18/05 again! Class birthday! So we'll be celebrating a belated class birthday this Saturday on the 24th, as Valerie will be back from Japan by then. It won't be full attendance though, but it's hard to find a day where everyone will be free.

For the guys' side, Saturdays are better as stay-in personnel might have to book in on Sunday night and so an outing on Sunday will be rushed, but Jonathan Phang and Hoe Seng are involved in organising this year's NDP and so their Saturdays will be burnt. So sadly, they won't be coming for the outing. Shuiyong will also not be present as he has some lessons. The girls' side, last I heard all the girls will be present except Huiling who's overseas according to Debbie. Irregardless, we should still enjoy our outing as it'll be a 75%-80% attendance! Which is good compared to the last outing on V-day.

I've planned for a bowling session in the late afternoon before we all go for dinner, so we can have fun and laugh at each other's longkang balls and get some much needed enjoyment. It won't be about winning or losing but rather a cohesion activity! Dinner should be at Pizza Hut if everyone's fine with it, since it's a place where we can remain inside and chitchat and not be too bothered. I'm looking at a $20-25 max budget per person (please tell me if it's too much) for the whole outing (excluding transport costs of course). Nothing else is planned for after dinner so those who want to go home early can, those who can think of something else to do can voice out as well, such as shopping (or window-shopping) or catch a movie, play arcade or pool, go clubbing, chill out in some bar or even chill out somewhere in the open (be careful not to get caught by police for illegal gathering haha). I'll leave it up to you all to discuss when we all meet up on Saturday.

how true. went to my friend house to watch liverpool match as i told another friend of mine who went also that this might be the last chance to watch them play in champions league this season. how true. yes i am sad that liverpool never went through but the match was worth staying up for. the passion of liverpool players were out there for all to see. we went down with a good hard fight. no regrets.

although we end another season without a trophy again, there was a lot of positives to take away from this season. for so long we lack players of torres quality, rock solid defenders of the next generation in agger and skrtel, players with dribbling skills like babel, the roy keane/vieira of liverpool we found in mascherano. with that said, we still need the most important thing that eludes us every single season-CONSISTENCY. The consistency over 38 matches and turning draws into wins and the odd 1-0 ugly win and we can win the tittle.

for non soccer fans, if you managed to read until here that's great because this part onwards concerns you haha.

ok i am free on 17 and 24 may. i vote for sat outing instead of sun.

my guard com duties are on 21 and 23 May.

and for overseas trip club med is super expensive unless i am mistaken. leaning more towards phuket free and easy trip. will have more info and updates by this weekend.

Moving house can be very sian as I found out. So much things to do over the past few days, not forgetting, the various squabbles that we had in the household on what to bring and what not lol... Come to think of it, its quite childish, but I guess that is part of the "excitement" after all.

So after staying here for 3 days, I still miss my old house. True that I can hit the gym or pool any time I want here, but missing ingredients include the proximity to my close friends and the other amenities that can only be found in heartlands.

And we celebrate Ragen's bday this month. Apr 23rd to be exact. So happy bday Ragen!

Anyway, important, for the class outing, please confirm when you can make it. I think Kenneth, overseas not advisable la... some of the guys mobilised for some exercise. been a while since i blogged here. has my reasons though. adpt is finally over with lots of mosquitoes bites as battle scars. lol. so looking forward to the month of may. can finally clear at least 3 days off though there is still a joint nation exercise that i will be out in the field on 11-13 May so comfirm not free on that weekend.

for those who do know how to play the piano, i can only play C, C sharp and D major scales. haha 2 lessons so far but i'm glad that i took the small step forward to learn to speak the language without words:music

I have something to announce...

"With effect from 27th April 2008, the undersigned will no longer be living in the Bishan residence. He will now, under the obligation of the FAMILY, reside in Varsity Park, henceforth known as the 'Residence' "

Yes, I will be shifting house and I intend to keep this as low profile as possible. Hence, you are only one of the few batches of friends that I have informed about it. The rest still dun know, and probably do not need to know too lol...

It is really a sad thing really... I love my current house so much and moving into the Residence is not something that I look forward to. Having so many pleasant memories and a great bunch of friends around me, it is indeed hard for me to say that I would not miss this lovely home of mine. Those who have been to my house will know, despite its untidiness, there is always a sense of warmth and calming effect in it. One can see the sun rise from the balcony (and bedroom) of my house, and then be spared the glare of the afternoon sun, before witnessing the sun set into the horizon from the other side. The park is also vibrant with activities. The nearby market cum mini shopping centre buzzing with life. And not to forget the various other amenities around the neighbourhood which my friends and I make use of as a hangout and a place for interaction. Last of all, having spent 9/10 of my life in this house, I have made countless no. of good friends and it is a good area to gather because of its centralised location...

But some things has to change eventually, and that will be in the form of the house. My parents want to try living in a different environment (not that I think I may enjoy it) and so they decided to move.

Nevertheless, this is only a temporary thing. This house still sits firmly in my heart, so it will only be rented out, not sold. I should be coming back in a few years time... hopefully.

I will update the address book in the class email soon. And in case you are wondering where is it, the name suggests its location; its right opposite NUS and my apartment overlooks the bus interchange.

On a side note, our third yr anniversary is coming up in less than 1 month's time. And Kenneth has suggested that we celebrate it either on the day itself, or the day before. So try to keep one of the following days free: 17, 18, 24 or 25 May 08. Trust your exams would have ended by then and all forms of exercises too. Maybe then could be a good time for "house warming" too... but got to confirm whether BBQ pits available.

So its another 6 more days before someone else resides in this house, and I will occupy my new residence... till then, better "enjoy" while I can. :)

hello. yes i realise i haven't been writing much recently. the last time i did was like ages ago. but ok anyway. daaaammit! my exams are in a couple of weeks time(thats why i haven't blogged much). i just hope everythings over soon. after one year of part time studies i must say i have had ENOUGH. gosh. it sucks the life out of me. honestly i will never wanna take part time classes again. if some of you do next time, haha good luck! its really tough. to work and then rush off for class only to repeat the whole process the following day.

ok as for the canteen thingy. haha oook... you can try? but i must say by the time we go through all the red tape and procedures, we would have already ORDed ages ago. assuming the ORGANISATION(i shall not be explicit here. dun wanna be charged like tt) is effecient. if they're not... probably they'd lose some forms here and there and forget about it after a while. see? jaded already. after 1 year plus inside the organisation. i have seen enough and i'm quite sick of it. waiting to get out. dying to get out.

mm one interesting fact. what would you choose? one million bucks, or one cent which will multiply itself everyday by 2 for a month. you'll be surprised if you do the math. on the topic of money.. yea i can feel the squeeze. my bank account hasn't been very healthy for the last couple of months. despite taking what investment course. haha. i'm quite helpless. hardly can manage my pay, even after learning financial planning. usually i comfort myself by reminding myself how little i earn. theres nothing much for me to work on anyway. so... well... haha.

Ever-Raising Prices?

Hi ppl,

Yep, you all read abt it or heard abt it, be it through Newspapers, TV, Internet or by word of mouth. The price of rice has increased by abt 30% ever since some big rice-producing countries decide to farm more lucrative palm oil or corn for bio-fuel. This latest surge in price follows hot on the heals of increase of prices in other essentials such as wheat, flour and cooking oil. Not to mention, crude oil and natural gas too.

Being the "poor" souls that we are currently serving the nation, we are too not spared from this "misery". I received a circular in my email on wednesday indicating that all canteen food prices has been allowed to be raised, citing the above-mentioned as the basis for doing so. So starting next monday, 14 Apr 08, Shui Yong and I will not be enjoying $2 wan ton mee anymore... as they are allowed to raise prices up to $2.50 :S
Of course the other guys in NS are not that much affected if they have cook-houses in their camp, but nevertheless, who would not be sick of eating the same food week in and week out lol.
Feel like writing in to request a two-tier pricing format so that we can get cheaper food and visitors get charged a more expensive rate. This also encourages staff to don their passes at all times. What say you SY?

I dun know abt universities... have they raised the canteen food prices accordingly? Or has the authority intervened and continue to allow subsidised prices for students patronising the stalls? Or did you notice your usual serving of noodles or western food has shrunk of late? Hope that you all are not affected.

Understand that this is the exam period for unis, so all the best! And Mel, so which course did u settle for eventually? All the best in your uni application!

mel i tot you wanted to try design??. OMG i cant imagine you in EEE, circuits, programming, lots of physics.. OMGOMG..... i tot you don't like physics?? if you dun like maths either, you will definitely suffer for the first year. Ok i sound seriously discouraging. but for prospects i certainly think engineering will have more. It's ok if your final decision is engineering but be prepared to work extra hard. Hi,

No birthdays for the month of Mar...but a few for April... haha. Was reading through the class list and I realised that I am one of the only few to stay on a low floor. Many others stay in high rise flats. But I guess its a blessing for me because my HDB block gets sunlight all day round. In the morning, the sunlight shines into my room and hall. By noon time, the sun temporarily goes into hiding and is not directly visable. But come abt 2pm, and the sun will appear on the other side of the house ie; my studyroom, kitchen. Imagine if I were my friend living on the 11th storey, in the same block as me. Probably his house is like a Suana during the "summer period" :P

Well, these few months have really been a barren period in terms of keeping in contact with each other. No outings, and everyone is busy. Probably come June, there will be one, and JR and a few of us will really start counting down lol...

One thing I have learnt in life during NS so far is to feel that you are lucky to have something, and not mull over so called "greener pastures". Looking at some of my fellow colleagues "predicament" and restrictions because of their own medical problems, I must say I am lucky enough. Most importantly, we must all keep healthy and exercise often. Then troubles will go away automatically. As quoted from one of the courses which I have attended:

"Flush all of them (the troubles, and the ppl you dislike; write their names on a piece of paper) away!"

Reflections of a Man

Prologue

In life we make numerous decisions, some were spilt second decisions, while others took us a long time to grapple over it. Each decision that we made at each point in life changed the course of our life from that moment onwards. Sometimes we make mistakes, while some mistakes are given a second chance however more often than not, we have to live with the mistakes that we made.

With so much to process in our brains every single day, I believe that we need to stop for a moment and reflect on how far we come and where do we go next.

I took the opportunity to look back at the past year and realise how time flies. In the blink of an eye, I gone through 1 year plus of army and my braces is also nearing it's 1 year mark. So where do i go from here? I asked myself. What do I want to achieve?

To earn more money? We have a lifetime to earn it, it is never enough in any point of your life and trying your luck at gambling is wasting time. The house always win.

Do dreams come true? I'm sure all of us dreamed of becoming rich/famous/travelling around the world etc. What are my dreams? To earn lots of money so I can travel around the world, becoming a musician, playing and making great music, getting good results in university, get married live happily ever after.

I decided to take a step closer to making dreams come true and the achievable dream at the moment is adding the title musician under my description. I bought my P85 digital piano today. A small step and a step closer to making dreams come true.

Hi,

Glad to see the blog is still functioning. Hmmm.. I agree with Deb's view la. Go for what you like to study rather than for the sake of a job next time or its prestige. My JieFu did explain the logic to me and I would like to share it. Its like if you have a passion or interest in this particular course, there is an added bit of energy and bite in you to propel yourself forward. You wouldn't be bothered by the setbacks and will be more eager to learn. Nvm abt the poor "job prospects" or starting pay, but if you do well in your uni life, you will eventually rise up to be among the high earners. Of course, its not so simple as Deb also pointed out. You must also be able to ensure that you can cope with the content of the course. Diligence can only play a certain part in ensuring that you succeed. So Mel, and to the other guys, we still can make our choices, so do think through carefully yeah?

I did thought of calling for some small outing or sorts cause this will be the only holiday until May!!! But then... I am also occupied on Sunday, so that leaves me with only saturday. And to soccer fans...the big sunday clash is something which many will not want to miss (although I will miss it). Haha. So I guess we got to wait till the sch hols in June or something then we organise one? Yeah? Ok this time I will think of a venue and some activities. But do inform me of how long your sch break is...or else I cant plan properly.

Btw, if you all want to work part time in June and for more than $6 an hour, you can try asking me and I will ask my sister. She has vacancies now for data entry/office work, but dun know abt June...so if interested, can contact me.

boo! its a loooong weekend boy! haha hope you guys have a good rest yea? mm... was planning to arrange some meetup this weekend. but i've been cropped up with my lessons and stuf. exams coming in a month. then i'll be a DIPLOMA holder. rahahah. so qualified man. all you lousy a lvl cert holders. haha okok. joking. my lousy one year dip probably isnt worth much anyway. but yea mmm yes on the topic abt interest.yeeees. please do something that you have passion for. or maybe at least know whhhhyyy you're doing something. i forgot where i heard this from. its probably a little cliche. but aiya. watever. i shall edit the characters a bit.

mr fisherman was lazing arnd on the beach after a good day's work. he's got 2 day's worth of catch in his bucket. mr ambitious came along and asked him why wasnt he fishing since he still had time. mr fisherman said he could live on that day's catch for 2 days. mr ambitious said that if mr fisherman used the next 2 days to fish and sell of the fish, he can go on to accumulate ebnough fish to sell them in the market. he'd be able to buy a better boat, buy a better rod, to get more fish. mr fisherman said ' and after tt?' mr ambitious said then he could earn more money and buy a fishing ship, catch so much fish, earn so much money, he would be able to afford a restaurant of his own, specialising in fish dishes. mr fisherman then asked ' after that?' mr ambitious then said he could keep earning money and be rich enough to retire, and sit by the beach all day just lazing arnd. then mr fisherman said 'am i not already doing that?'

haha ok actually i din like that. i'd have mr ambitious ask mr fisherman why was he fishing everyday. i'd have mr fisherman say he loved doing it, and he loved eating fish. and i'd have mr ambitious to say everything in the original story. and i'd have mr fisherman see that he could have fun everyday of his life fishing, and actually share with the world what he felt was the best food in the world. fish. i think fish and co shld hire me as their marketing manager. nah just kidding. yes in conclusion. do what you like.

i've started teaching in a special school. i seriously think i lack patience (trying very hard already) and i lack skills to get everyone's attention! OKAY NOT ATTRACTIVE ENOUGH :( ! SIGH.

DEB CHIA. wat type of job you looking for. if it's 6 bucks/hour, think there is something. but if you want higher pay, then.. HMMMM.

and your advice.. interest vs. pay.
IM TOTALLY CONFUSED. i haven't applied for NUS yet, cos i don't know what's my interest, and FASS=LOW PAY la generally.REAL ESTATE sounds interesting during open house, but alot of friends told me it's a dumping ground. i like the URBAN PLANNING PART though.

im terribly sad my very good friend going back to india. WALAU. hahaha oooops. i said SHIT in class and some girl laughed at me.

Firstly.. congrads MEL.... hey u could go to shears if u get into NUS.. single room. I just left like writing abt certain decisions we make in life. Everytime when common tests and exams approach, I always ask myself if i have made the right choice by selecting chem engine. I have this fren who decided to drop out of chem engine after studying for 1 sem. He thinks that he made a wrong choice in studying chem engine and decided to go to aust to study biz.. I was just thinking over why i chose this course when i submitted my application last year.. i realised i wanted to get in not bcuz of passion but due to more realistic reasons like career prospects, pay etc etc.. Anyway, I've decided that since i'm in it and still have not found what i truly am passionate abt, I shall stick to my choice... Just a gentle reminder to those who still have a chance to choose, pls do find out more info abt ur course.. i'f u plan to stay in a hostel, u might want to find out abt the diff lives in diff hostel.. Do take the time to ask around.. go for the open houses... btw NUS's open house is this sat and sun 15,16 Mar. I realised that it's a good thing aj chose Thermodynamics as the option for chem. I'm using quite a bit of it.. This prob has nothing to do with those who aren't taking engineering.. but i wish i had taken Fmaths... I realised that many a times i had to borrow my fren's fmaths note..... ok den another thing is... anybody has jobs to recomend for the mid-yr hols?? seriously need to earn money.....
I guess that shall be all that i want to say =D

hello fellow ex-ajcians!hahaha finally able to type that because i didn't fail my A levels. thanks to all who wished me good luck. your good luck has helped a little, since my results are not extraordinary, but i think it will be sufficient to get me a place in the course i want. most prob FASS NUS. trying something else: NTU COMMUNICATION STUDIES which i consulted sheila and er, those who didn't get ABB went for some selection test + interview. OMG, im like anti-social. please bless me once more fellow ex-ajcians!hahaha.and btw, i wanna do journalism although my english is kinda broken.hahaha.

and i already found my room-mate for NUS.
need to find some back-up hahahahaha for NTU.

I have an understudy now, and he spoke of how he and his friends kept in contact. Similarly, I recall the times I was at loggerheads with one of my best friends now. Haha, so silly of us, but it certainly forged a stronger bond. That's how funny some things are. From "enemies" to best of friends. Argh...wondering off into my own thoughts haha.

i need to get this off my chest. the sad cruelties of life. where being in your comfort zone is not called 'comfort' for no reason.

as i found out today, it's dangerous to wander out of your comfort zone.

Background info: my psp is on version 3.40oea. an old but stable version which can play all my games and i also added in customized themes. pretty much contented with what i had and no one in the right mind would make changes to it.

but foolishly i decided to changed to 3.72 m33.

and it all went downhill from that moment. my psp is now between semi brick(can be saved) and fully bricked(equals to R.I.P), hanging on a thin line between life and death.

anyway for those who know that i am intending to learn a new skill, have already decided to learn the piano, found a private teacher already, but no available classes at the moment yet. so it still on hold. if want learn together drop me a message.

Hi,

Yah boy am I glad that this blog is still alive! Nice to see that Shui Yong and JR are still avidly contributing to the blog, not to mention Mel. Then of course there are the "silent visitors" like Sab, Deb and many more. But do chip in a sentence or two at the Cbox also. After all, not many ppl know abt this blog address! (No one accept 1805.nians supposed to know!!)

I echo what SY feels. He has basically said everything, so if you haven't read his latest post, go read it lol. SY, both of us are very busy now, wait till like june or something where we can start the count down...then we organise something? Closure of FY is sure sucky man... and SY has many projects.

The other day I was doing duty with one of SY's colleagues. I could vaguely remember him, and so could he abt me. Finally, we realised that we were once "opponents" on the chess board, he being from JJC while I represented AJ. We enjoyed chatting. So much to catch up abt. Not abt chess solely, but also abt work and friends. The world is sure small, and I will not be surprised if one or two of us might turn out to be colleagues in work next time.

Ok, all the best for your studies and worklife and entertainment! Feels like a walk down memory lane each time I visit this blog. Haha.

jun rong ah. haha you were so close to your grandparents? for me... i hardly had any chance to really interact with them. i dun think i'm lucky. you're the lucky one la! i was with them for so many more years but it was never quality time. but yea... after this i had a really strong call to spend more time with my parents. hope you guys do too, if you haven't already. frankly speaking i cannot imagine the day when my parents are no longer around. it seems so far off i can't even think of what the loss will feel like. it's as if it's never going to happen. i guess we all have to face it... matter of time. but i'll just try and treasure my time with them as of now.

i met up with my first 3 months class just recently. boy has everyone changed. if you guys still rmb ur first 3 mnths class in jc... its been a whole 3 years. this is the fourth already. it felt really good seeing them again! ironically its a reminder of how old we've become. it didn't seem like such a long time... the first few weeks of jc. but then so many things have come to pass. its amazing how a bunch of young fresh jc kids who shared 3 beautiful months together have each moved onto their own paths in life, everyone doing so different things. little awkward moments here and there but it was good revisiting our jc days. reminiscing abt the times we had in class and stuff. our econs teacher... chalets... it was great. really. haha i felt quite ashamed that the attendance that night bettered most of ours when we do bother to meet. quality wise too. i really hope the spirit can be brought back over to our class. aiya i dunno la. another part of me is telling me to just let things be. we got nothing to lose eh? just carry on with our loves. why bother. it's up to you guys too.

first and foremost, shui yong i have no idea what to say but you're luckier then me, i lost both my grandparents several years ago. was still in primary school then when my grandfather left me, hited me hard. i still remember i just broke out in tears halfway during lesson. teacher thought i something wrong.

fate perhaps, allowed me to chanced upon this video today which i felt was very beautiful and touching. it is a jap music video but i was so overwhelmed by it even though i do not understand the lyrics.

going back to camp tonight. end of the long holiday. the feeling is no good.

btw i remember plans for overseas trip during year end. can someone put like a reminder or something somewhere on the blog so we wont forget about it?

sooo sorry i've been out of touch with the world the last few days. well... my grandfather passed away you see. so i sort of had to spend my new year preparing for the funeral and stuff.. can't really organise anything either. the coming weekend is a bad time for me still... probaly the week after tt? but it'll be really late la. maybe just a get together la. not for the new year. damn i missed all my mahjong and stuff. haiz. i bet you guys all got ur pocket full of ang baos. mine ah. aiyaaa don't mention it. but yea... grandfather pass away man. who am i to complain. i wasn't exactly close though.. so it didn't hurt me much. it was more of a.. i'm sad coz others are sad kinda sentiment. have any of you been through the traditional chinese taoist/buddhist funeral? gosh i didn't know there were so many things to adhere to.. i must confess that i got quite exasperated. plus its the new year. i think it was hard on my family la. but oh well.. at least everything is over.

aye... with regards to the ang bao thingy. i have absolutely no qualms getting ang baos even when i'm working =) eviiiil laugh. i know i know. i'm horrible. but lets see... unless i'm like at the age of 29-30 plus and i'm still not married(oh my gosh... lonely hearts club!), i really will feel fine getting ang baos. young at heart la... haha ok kidding. i'm nt very young at heart already. but i'll still take ang bao... coz i still have to go uni anyway. pocket money... i think everyone will still need to rely on parents no? in uni i mean.

Chinese New Year 2008

Hi ppl,

So how was the long CNY holiday? Fun? Enjoyable? Hope it is :)

Just a thought flashed across my mind during this CNY... my mum says by right my relatives need not give me AngBao anymore because of:

1. My age
2. I am also "earning" money.

That sort of made me think likewise. And I felt quite awkward receiving AngBaos from soem of my relatives. Haha. Not to mention... some of my cousins are like 20 yrs older than me, and I feel even more pai seh to accept ang bao from them because THEY ARE IN THE SAME GENERATION AS ME! Lol! My family tree is sure distorted in a certain way.

So I guess one yr from now, most of the guys will be out of NS and start working first. Then this yr will probably be one of the last yrs I will be receiving Ang Baos haha. As we branch out further into different paths, really hope sometimes we can still keep in touch, very much like what JR has suggested...haha. Not asking the whole class to remember each other, but at least, with one or two ppl that you still keep in contact with, who knows...we might meet again later on as colleagues or business partners.

After this hol will be HELL weeks for me... closure of Financial Yr. Those who study Econs/Accountancy/Biz should know how hectic it is...
So better enjoy while I can lol!

whew!

it was a mad rush to sort out all the things i bought, pack up my room for cny, do spring cleaning. preparation completed!

haha on a side note b4 i start recounting my "adventures" in thailand, 32gb ipod touch is out! man that's like the holy grail of mp3 player for me. but the price of $848 is simply way too hot to handle. for now i am contented with my 30gb ipod video until either the following happpens-my current ipod dies or the price drop to something affordable like $458? haha.

anyway thailand is a nice place to visit. although i didnt get to visit bangkok, the people, food, place left a good impression on me and definitely if given another chance i will go visit thailand again.

Weather-Hot and dry during the day, super cold n windy at night. rarely rain.
Food-Very similar to chinese food. Beef and Pork prefered as choice of meat. Their chili sauce is sweet. Must try item-Local Beef noodle soup.
Transport-No famous "tutus" in lopburi town but they got sort of a modified pickup truck where behind got seats for around 10 people and motocycle taxi (didnt get the chance to try it) where you are the passenger of a normal motorbike and the rider will ring you to wherever you want to go.
Shopping-Things are seriously cheap here. Advice for travellers trying to break the language barrier. All you need is just a mini calculator, shout "pang" and give the "i cant believe you are charging me so expensive for something so cheap" look. Some people are better at pulling that off, while i only managed to succeed only once. Anyway no need bargain already very cheap already. Bargaining is just for the fun and the interaction between the shopkeepers.
People-The thais are a friendly and polite bunch of people from my experiences. They are helpful also often trying to guide us to either which transport to take, how to go to the place we are looking for.

Many experiences that i had until i dunno where to begin or what to tell.

Let's see, i took C-130 there, terribly uncomfortable, base camp was great, blankets and pillow were provided while i used my own $40 safari bed bought from beach road in a huge 12 man tentage. water for showering was from 2 big water tanks, quite "chui" but better then nothing. deployment site was 1 big patch of open field with lots of traps-cow dung! haha cows roam our deployment site daily with a cowpard(shepard for sheeps, cowpard for cows?)

Lopburi town is 1hr bus journey from base camp and the bus that will fetch us there always late!
One of my most memorable experience was visiting this eatery where the pic showed noodles with chicken 10 baht (arnd 45 cents) so we were like wha so cheap, in the end when the noodles arrived, the portions was so small that it only lasted 1 mouth. Another one was that we visited this Beef eatery. Their menu got english and thai so obviously we pointed what we wanted on the english menu. so our food came, but got 2 plate of egg which we didnt ordered and we were short of the rice that we thought we had ordered. After considerable effort to communicate with the waitress, we realised that the english menu and the thai menu were not in sync, the order for the eng menu was egg omelette rice while the thai one was omelette rice egg.

There was one particular shoping experience that was worth mentioning. We went to some sort of street shopping like bugis street in singapore and my friend wanted to try on this pair of jeans to see if it fits. So the shopkeeper handed him a big piece of cloth and the rest of us began laughing. In the end, he found one corner, and my other friend held the cloth to cover him while i was holding on the unit video cam, taking important footage to bring back for the rest to see.

Came back on Fokker 50, more decent and can pass off as an SIA flight seriously. The experience is good but staying away from home 2 weeks is a very long time and there are many times i cant wait to get back home.

hoping to meet up with you guys soon. maybe for dinner or catch a movie, lots of shows during this period(haven done that for quite a while, the previous movie cloverfield was a disaster) or go someone's house to eat up their cny goodies and play mahjong. that counts as an idea right?

Sorry ppl, the past few weeks have been very busy for me cause my senior ORD liao, so I am covering two positions until a replacement is selected. Haha...

Anyway, interesting topic by Shui Yong! Haha, SY, why the sudden inspiration to initiate such a topic? Before I saw your "signature", I wondered who will actually write such a post lol... Well, I supposed no one borrowed your name to mask his/her identity. But I can say that NS really changes a person... ZiKai is still as helpful, enthu, passionate as ever, but he has become a tinge more mature. Good la, he is proud leading his own kakis in his unit!

I second SY's opinion la. Now will most probably be the time whereby the common topic among close friends will be abt r/s. I read a forum thread on the mindef forums... this NSF was frantically seeking advice and opinions on how to interprete his gf-to-be various hints. The "story line" was so long I think it can make up a part one of a three part novel. Part one being "how to initiate". But so far no end to part one yet lol...

Rest of the ppl seem to be quietly reading the post but not updating lol... pls do la...keep this blog alive. You never know, we may meet each other again during work and such, so its best to keep a wide network of friends.

haven visited the blog since i last posted. glad to see new posts. anyway the current song definitely need to be changed. lol

been in ns for slightly over a year already, recently an unpleasant event 2 days ago while i was on duty made me sat down and think back on all the bad/rough times i had with my superiors. (actually only 3 so far. got an extra weekend duty for the first one, second one i had to write a lengthy detailed report and sat in front of my oc for god knows how long that when it was finally over, my both legs were so numb that i fell down when i tried to stand up.)

i do not really wish to talk about any of the incidents but it made me realise that even under pressure from others, being threaten with extras and such, being scolded or such. for me, it is to never back down from your stand and worse flip flop on your statements. because if anybody can so easy shatter your beliefs, what's left of you that make you-you?

believe in what you do, do what you believe in.

i always felt that our life are shaped by what we believe in. if we do not have something that we firmly believe in, it would be like boat without a motor, it will just flow with the curents of the sea.

anyway i wonder if the above post makes any sense to other people who read this. lol.

flying off to thailand for exercise on 21 jan. be back in sg arnd 4 feb. so in the mean time take care till i come back and visit the blog again.

ah! something interesting to talk abt. i think i can talk abt this the whole day. i better write this today... lest i got no time over the weekdays. haha who posted the last entry man! leave a name bro!

ok anyway. aiya i do think we have all grown old. even if not during jc... i felt toward the end of j2 everyone in class sort of matured. even if not then... maybe after j2. we all get a certain amt of exposure and suddenly it matters a lot to you how people look at you. i believe we all start asking ourselves abt relationships, friendship, life in general..tt kind of stuff. i don't talk abt such things to many people but i do think amongst your own groups... these issues matter much more now. it no longer is a 'hmph i dun friend you kinda thing.' so much more complications. sometimes things do get a bit fake. i must admit. its a sooner or later thing i guess... before we all get tainted by the harsh realities of life. tts why i wrote on this blog tt i liked zikai. his innocence was hard to come by. i'm nt saying you're childish or anything zikai! as in i genuinely felt you were very pure at heart. i dunno if things have changed but i do hope not! ok yes i do think we are forced to grow up. somewhere down the road something will hit you and you look at the world differently. it really is a cruel place out there and i think we all become very selfish. i dunno wat you mean by wanting more... being greedy and stuff(to the person who posted the previous entry. let he/she be X) but yea to me its more of selfishness. natural instinct? we all want to protect ourselves. X ah. please elaborate more on what you mean. but i think... stick to your guns la. depends wat kind of guns you hold in the first place though. i dun see in anyway how exposure will cause me to be greedy(materialism perhaps?) but if circumstance forces you to be greedy... don't be la. theres is a difference between having high expectations of yourself and being greedy. its hard to draw the line and i myself haven't quite solved this problem. how much do i wanna achieve before i'm actually happy. recently i've been trying to do things tt will only make me happy. like its not the end result but the process tts fun. jamming with my band and like gg for classes... they're all my interest and i guess i'm pretty contented now. i hope i'm right though. yay. i'm so glad someone brought this up. haha. some maturity in the blog.

mm... this may sound quite random... but sometimes i feel we're all so very fortunate. today i had a DXO applicant coming for psychometric test. he couldnt walk. as in really. like he will just crumble without his walking stick. to be frank his way of walking was so horrible that its a pain to watch. i cringed inside everytime he took a step. i don't think i'll ever forget the rhythmic pressure of his hand upon my shoulder as i walked him out of cmpb. dammit. its haunting. like i was trying to talk normally to him when so many thoughts were going through my mind. i have so many dreams and wishes in the new year but this man, hardly 4 years older than me, if he had one wish to be granted i think it would be to walk normally. its not fair. i felt horrible frankly. i was humbled though i was the normal one. his manner of walking... spoke so much more of strength. the pathetic and ugly steps that he took, bleeds of will and the desire to live, so much so that in his weakness, he is stronger than so many people i know. i watched as he clung onto his support while waiting for his dad to come fetch him. i couldnt help but think of wat kind of life he could have led, if not for that one defect. he was a really nice guy to talk to. but then i though that God had made him just as beautiful, if not even more than many of us, who are not in any way physically disabled. for all the unimaginable nightmares that he went through at childhood, the fact was that he was still there, standing. i faked a smile, waved goodbye and left. after that i was quite lost. hiaz. sometimes i wonder.

YES, NS IS SCARY!

We are all couped up, waiting to get freed. That's the general sentiment la. But of course we get to learn many things from NS. Oh well, give and take they say.

You feeling bored? I supposed you found a job right? Then hang out with the gals one last time this weekend or next before their school terms starts...(or has it already started?). Time really flies la. SY and I haven't even enjoy one month of freedom and we were in NS. Soon after, JR and the Jan batch co. joined us. Then followed by Apr batch. Then the next milestone was the girls entering uni in Aug. All of them worked before that if I didn remember wrongly... and now Jiayi is an Officer! Haha!

So time really flies man. Another 300plus absolute days and Jiayi, the Jan batch guys and SY and I will be out. Then in Feb, the Apr batch ppl will be out! So must treasure your time hor!

Btw, guys, if you aren't aware, there is this E-PREP scheme available for us to pick up courses. E-learning in the NS Portal that is. Anyone who has served more than one year is eligible for it. Courses inside include Maths, Sciences and various others that will be useful for uni. The courses are still not acredited with the unis though... but still, make use of the credits available... pay only 10% I think...

Everyone set New Year Resolutions already? Haha, I think we guys have not much to set...but I would want to borrow some notes to brush up on my studies before uni!

SO FUN hahaa.

and i start off my blog post with the phrase that was so captivating that i have no explaination for it. the last day of 2007 and i alway like to reflect back and make some general plans for 2008. somehow the quietness of this blog add has rekindled my blog writing habits. the peace and tranquilty of this place is perfect for me to start all over again. i could still remember wat a mess my old blog was in, esp the tagboard. haha.

2007-A year of self-discovery,self awakening,learning and the death of my social life.

how shall i begin? so many things have happen, and my memory is in bits and pieces.

ok so 2007 was the year i enlisted, 110107-Pink IC Lost!
after like 11 plus month in army, the one and only thought is still ORD!

haha anyway dont talk about army. boring topic.

to sum it up, in 2007, i got my laptop, braces, psp, my first liverpool jersey, miltary driving license, ipod, completed a full marathon, basic theory cert. haha quite a good haul this year has been.

oh man what a great year 2007 has been, there were simply many days that things just go smoothly for me, where everything just falls into place, everything swee swee one. hope 2008 got even more days like that!

why should we look forward to 2008? simply 2008 is the year which i ORD! yes! the time has finally come. many things to accomplish, like getting my driving license, ord ord no ord, thailand overseas excerise, hopefully i can settle down and learn a new language for good this time instead of always putting it off, and yes maybe another full marathon attempt, i really want to improve on my crap timing, also time to find 'the one' (that is confirm gonna be my first aim after i ord), finish reading the 2 books which i got a while back, one halfway thru, another one haven even touch yet. looking forward to my 2 christmas present which unfortunately are arriving in the yr 2008. sad. oh i almost forget, 1 year form today, i will not be in singapore, hopefully i be celebrating the end of 2008 in another country with someone instead of rotting at home like this year.

With that i shall end my post, about 20 min more left of 2007, thanks for reading, enjoy the last few moments and take the new year as a new chance to start afresh again. it's gonna be a new page in "The Adventures of ___insert your name here___"

Haha JR, that is certainly an encouragement for me and the class! Nowadays quite free ah lol... can blog. Continue to contribute to this blog! Girls also leh... now holidays so can blog more, maybe give the guys a peek of how uni life is like.

Anyway, for those who have missed the "Christmas outing" organised by Shui Yong, nvm, organise one more and we will sure attend! Attendance not bad... abt 15 ppl turned up :) Went to Sakae Sushi to eat and chatted among ourselves. Felt pretty much like old days... haha.

I think (if) for the next gathering, I propose that we meet up at Comcentre Singtel Recreational Club. If my father can book a room or the main hall, it will be fantastic. Cause there is karoke there, pool, dart board and jackpots(not encouraged :P). Food will be catered there, so no worries... so if you all gian outing...then inform us loh..then i check with my dad.

Thanks to Mel for sending out the christmas cards. Dun know how many of you have received it, but it feels really nice to be remembered :) And with me losing all ur numbers of late, the class contact list did come in handy lol... so if u have lost the list, login into this blog email to get it!

whew i manged to logged in for the first time without asking yi long for the user id. hahaha.

seems rather dead here, except some one changed the song, plus unkown author previous entry.

i realised my blog last post was abt moving to a new blog, yes it happen, but the new blog only lasted 1 post. haha. maybe someday i get back to blogging seriously, for now i'm juzt happy to contribute random stuff for random visitors during random times at 1805 blog.

it's amazing how serving the nation makes you cherish every second that you are not in uniform. thus times when i feel like blogging didnt happened because it was ranked rather low in my to do list.

i cannot remember exactly when i first fell in love with music. however, i can still recall the first few artistes that i like was Britney Spears! *gasp* thinking back i am sure i like her looks rather then her music. haha i can remember because i got 1 of her dvd in my collections!

there was also jay chou and his ba du kong jian album which made me like jay chou. it could also be due to my whole cca during secondary school was also crazy about him. haha

as one's grow older, one's taste for music grows more sosphisticated. let me introduce the world greatest band in my opinion-U2. i could remember exactly how i fell in love with U2. On 03 Dec 06, after finishing my volunteer work at padang and collecting my $20 token of appreciation, i walk over to raffles city shopping centre, and step into one of the cd shops. it just happpened that they were playing music from U2 18 Singles cd, i cant remember what song they played but i was so attracted to them i just bought their cd in the spur of the moment. it was probably the best decision i made so far in my life. U2 has so many greats hits, such as Angel of Harlem, One, Walk On, Sunday Bloody Sunday and Windows in the Skies.

The greatest 4 girls japanese band disbanded on 010405. got to know them by chance during secondary school and fell in love with them ever since. lovely girls, great music. to me they are as good as 4 ayumi hamasaki singing together. they had their final concert on 010405, bidding farewell to their fans. i also wonder why such great talents never got their deserved breakthrough. i searched the whole of hmv and i cant find their cds or dvds. super unknown in singapore, i had to resort to yesasia.com to ship me their final live dvd. their first and last concert on april fools day. the estimated arrival is around 16 jan, still have to wait long long for it and it the most ex piece of disc i ever paid for in my life, plus i dont understand jap! haha but great music transcends all language. my fav zone member has to be mizuho the little drummer girl! she is just so cool n cute when she plays the drum!

hey all,

been a long while since i actually interacted with any of our classmates. the last time was the marina south buffet, great outing, n had a really great time.

i noe now shld hav a lot of newly promoted 3sg. grats! haha n mr jiayi is going to become 2lt super soon. early grats to u sir. haha.

nov has been an hectic month. frm my integration into my unit plus the asean summit week which was a terror. totally burned my weekend. plus i had to tio ME site. argh y liddat? my gortex boots somemore came back brown instead of black. sad case. anyway with the asean summit over, started to get some breather at least. all chiong clear leave! haha

anyway going thailand for overseas during late jan to cny eve. i wonder who plan one. cny eve den fly back. so hopefully we can meet b4 i fly. most likely dec ba. wonder how's the plan going liao. u ask me for idea i oso cant give much idea. cuz sg only gt tat few places to go. limited choice.

anyways, tis is the mooossstttt IMPORTANT part of my entry. on 2 dec sunday at 0530 hrs, i will disembark on a personal journey to push my limits, challenging every muscle of my body by running a full marathon. the start n end point is at the padang, route will pass by places like raffles, marina, east coast, kallang. SO if u happen to be in the area on sunday do come down to give me moral support! or u can wait for me at the end point(dont be there too early thou, i am gonna be really freaking slow) den we go have a sumptous meal(oh provided if i don peng shan halfway thru)

ok i know that aft saying all this u wont even think of going as i probably be mad. maybe i shld try another method. for the guys, there r a lot(freaking a lot) of chiobus for u to beo, n obviously for the girls, there r a lot of hunks for u to beo oso. win-win situation for all.

Haha, so the template has been erased and we have to make do with white for a while. But nvm, its ok, I am fine with it. SY, nvm la, we just choose a simple template from the choices will do? Haha, the voices are finally back in the Cbox! Mel, you are really a catalyst! After your post, the blog has become alive again! You say you have four more papers...hmm... I suppose your exams end this week then? All the best! Keep fighting, we are all behind you!

Well, if many people are up for a christmas party, then we can always go ahead with it. But the response must be +ve first la... If not later become another all guys outing?! Haha nah just joking, I know it wouldn't happen. So I shall start the ball rolling by suggesting two dates: 22nd or 29th Dec? Both are saturdays, and I believe everyone should be available on one of those weekends.

As for the venue, time and activities, ppl pls chip in first, no matter via blog, cbox, sms call etc... We want ideas from you! And, I have another suggestion... lets elect the organising committee this time! Not that the usual few are not keen on organising, but you know, we always come up with the usual few ideas, so its high time that we inject some new variety into it! Kenneth has organised two outings already, so what abt the rest? Dun be shy la... I think we get two guys and two gals to be in the committtee? Voting starts now!!!

aaanyway. my sis was telling me her friend's bro passed away. like just 20 plus yrs old. yikes. thats a scary thought. so i told my sis never ever to complain about me playing guitar at home. she wouldnt want to have nothing to complain about. HAHHAHA. but seriously. mm. after jc i do realise how fragile we all are. as in relationship wise. i've been through OG, first 3 mnths class, our class, guitar club, ogl for j1s, now ns, and diploma class, the faces keep changing. honestly speaking i met more pple than i ever had for 4 years in catholic high. after ns will be uni and then a new set of faces will come. it is horrible. but amongst all these shuffling, there will be faces that stick. parents, siblings, close friends.. my 2 turtles that never fail to amuse me(i like the way they sleep, by the way) yea. haha. i've come to realise how important those people are. i realise its nt easy to find people whom you can connect with.. and maybe we are all just too different. but hope you all gt one or two faces tt will stick arnd for life =) i think i do have one or two frm our class. haha i think. i think.

Yeah, my internet connection is now back, and the first blog I check and update is...yep, the class blog haha. Not bad...ppl still tagging...but only SY contributing to the posts? More from the rest leh lol!

Ok, so I guess we enter what we all "dreaded" most when schooling: The EXAMS! Mel, all the best! And SY, I didn know you were also taking exams also lol... so do well in them too yeah? Haha, then you can treat me at rocky masters :P

SY's metaphor of the "friends like stars" thingy is really good. Where did you get that from? I seldom communicate with any of the class ppl bar SY, Ee Kent, ZY and Zi Kai. Occassional chats with some of the other guys too. But seemed to have lost touch with the rest... Hopefully the cloud is just temporary though, we will get to see each other pretty soon I envisage.

The world is small, I believe. We will meet up with each other sooner or later, be it work or play. So try to keep in touch, you never know what benefit you might reap from it. :)

heeeeelp! i got exams starting on the 29th this month! if i'm not wrong A lvls start on the exact same day. anyone took finance or anything along tt line in uni? i could use some help here. all the derivatives jargon is killing me.

well it does seem like we've sort of come to a silent consensus that we shall now all detach ourselves from each others' lives. isnt it? haha. frankly speaking i can't recall the last time i spoke to anyone in class. ok take phang and yick loong away. aye... but i must say haha yick loong i am truly grateful for your effort. i'll try and reciprocrate via OA yea? haha it suddenly occured to me tt i might appear to be super dao. coz i nvr reply to mails. so i sent the ppt.

oh nooo haha i feel so guilty. i'm the only guy that din turn up last night! lucky i decided to meet you all at the mrt station. at least i managed to see most of the guys. initially i was thinking should i even meet everyone for a while. fortunately i did. oh well... hope you all really had fun catching up and stuff. surprised no one played pool though. next time can org again. WHO CARES WHETHER THE GIRLS TURN UP OR NOT(oops... haha). ok la haha it does matter. but the way i see it... they have moved on to another phase altogether. for us guys... its moving on while we're still stuck at the same place. i guess we got more things in common and its easier to keep us tog. i'm trying not to think about how things will be like when we eventually enter uni ourselves. hahahah

anyway, just a quick update. been as busy as always. with my diploma and stuff... i got exams coming up end oct. wth man. feels like A lvls all over again. and and and. i might be playing for aj prom night end of this year! apparently the j2s will have it at the grand copthorne hotel if i'm nt wrong. its amazing isnt it? seemed like yesterday when we were all at our own prom taking pictures and stuff. sigh. how things have changed.

Class outing yesterday was rather...unique...lol.

It was an all-guys outing! Haha. No la, I am not blaming the girls. Kenneth and I were not aware that you all had CAs the following week, coupled with a whole workload to do; that is more important.

Haha but we had quite some fun la. We could sit at Marina Bay and chat for like about 2+hours without getting chased away. So looks like what SY advised was true. Then we walked like 3km to Marina Bay station, because we didn take the bus? Lol! Crazy idea, but fun as we can all talk along the way and take our time. But I personally dun advise going there next time la. Atmosphere is too "smoky" and the food...oh well, depends on your luck... drinks there are expensive too. Luckily we brought along some water to save on the high costs.

I wouldn't know when will be the next opportunity, or would we ever have a chance to meet up again. The girls will be having loads of projects and exams to study for. The guys have their respective vocations. My hunch would be that of the 2nd week of dec, where the girls have finished their exams. But we shall see then....

Aiyo, next time hor, pls provide details like when is the CA and stuff, so the organiser can avoid that "block period". Lol. Oh well, all remains to be seen. Lets hope we can still keep in contact. Dun just disband like this :) (although the possibility is very high and we all can sense it)

Hi,

Now its time to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KENNETH! Yes, his bday is only one day after Debbie's one. Ok la, I have wished him many times liao, so I think if I go find another lame picture to "give" to him, it would be rather dumb of me. So oh well, no "present" for you kenneth. Maybe a physical one will do.

Kenneth has made a bday wish to all of you. I am pretty sure you have received it by now. He has expressed his wish that everyone will be able to gather on 8th September 07 (Sat). We decided to postpone it for a few reasons. One being quite a number of ppl will not be able to make it, especially ppl whom we want to see very much! (guess who?) Kenneth has smsed all of you personally this time. Its his bday wish...so dun disappoint him hor...

We are no longer a class. So its not a class outing. (class outing sounds too cliche and 'childish' to some?) Its more of a social gathering whereby we can chat and catch up with each other. The world is small. We might still meet each other next time. So its best that we keep in touch.

No worries, two weeks. Hopefully we can receive everyone's confirmation by next weekend. If this is ever to be the last gathering (cross fingers hopefully not), lets make it a meaningful one by turning up in full attendance. Then it will really serve its purpose.

On a last note, there will be a phenomenon tomorrow evening. A total eclipse will occur at about 7pm and last abt 1 hour. We will not be able to see it in Singapore, but we can see the after effects (partial eclipse) at about 8pm. Ppl living in the east will get to enjoy it most. So if you have time, do take the opportunity to enjoy this once in a life time experience! (Taken from Saturday newspaper science section).

Besides that, just in case you didn catch my smses. One is abt dedicating msg to our teachers in ajc. If you didn receive the email from the AJC alumni Association (AJCAA), you can always pass me your msg thru email or sms, and I will do it on your behalf. :)

The other is abt the class outing. Like what Sy said. TRY. I know everyone has their own commitments. So its your prerogative whether you want to attend the planned outing. But I believe that if everyone still has a sense of belonging to the class, we will still find time to fork out to meet up with each other.

wooo~ back in action. ok at least for a while. i know i know i know... everyones been busy haha. anyway i saw quite a couple of people over the last 2 weeks. val at vivo and suelynn at city hall area. hmm and i realise how long its been since i last saw some people. i guess on my part it really is very difficult to meet up.... coz my weekends are always packed... and weekdays the ns guys are never around. so wth man. but anyhow, 1st sept let's go have steamboat at marina yea? ok maybe i should change to "you all". gah i've got friend's ord bbq to attend. hahaha i pick steamboat coz i just went there recently. actually the food... not sure what to say about it. but its quite a good place to just sit around and talk. at least no one chases you away. wonder why we've never done it before. oh wells. i will try and pull pple in.

eh frankly speaking i wanna scold a lot of people. though its like stuff written here never gets across to the target grp.. i'll still whack la. YOU HORRIBLE PEOPLE. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU ACTUALLY MET UP WITH SOMEONE FROM OUR CLASS?? prove me wrong but i think barring those who study in the same sch, nobody meets up. ok i am guilty of that too actually. though i did see phang and jr recently. haha. so the point is: TRY.

Haha anyway, you all should have received an sms from me yesterday. Yes, we are proposing to have a class outing on 1 Sept 07. "We" refers to the ppl who still want to meet up very much with 1805nians and catch up. Hopefully "we" will mean every single classmate in this case...

Yep, so we can say happy birthday to two other classmates today. One is Mr Liverpool fan and "winning11pro" Jun Rong! The other will be one guy which will always brighten up the class with his "adopted accent", Jonathan Phang! FYI: JR's bday is yesterday, and Jonathan's one falls today. So sorry JR, forgot about it until I checked the class list this morning...
